Apple Day

October the 21st is Apple Day, an annual celebration of apple, orchards and local distinctiveness. Initiated by Common Ground and celebrated each year since 1990 by people organising hundreds of local events. Why not join in?  Common Ground has used the apple as a symbol of the physical, cultural and genetic diversity we should not let slip away. In linking particular apples with their place of origin, they hope that orchards will be recognised and conserved for their contribution to local distinctiveness, including the rich diversity of wild life they support.

Please visit for details of this year’s Apple Day events across the country and if nothing else, how about taking some British Apples into your place of work and share them with colleagues?
