Bird identification and surveying free afternoon course

Come out in the sun with the Friends of Griffin Wood and local naturalist George Pilkington this Sunday (21st) to learn the art of bird spotting and identification. We will then be putting our newly learnt skills into practice by undertaking surveys of the birdlife on our site Although we can’t guarantee them on the day in the past we have seen Buzzards, Herons, Swallows, Woodpeckers and Owls. Just in case please be prepared for rain and bring your binoculars if you have a pair.

This event is your way to link up with the launch of the International Day of Biodiversity. This year’s theme is “Biodiversity and Forests”, linked in with the 2011 International Year of Forests http://www.cbd.int/idb/

We will be meeting on site at 1.30pm and this free course will run for 3 hours.
